Why I Never Chase Clients (and Still Attract the Right Ones)

This morning, I attended an inspiring networking event held at the newly opened Townhouse Hotel in The Hague.
The setting was stunning, and the dining room was filled with talented women from the wellness and lifestyle sector.
As I looked around, I realized: this might not immediately turn into a project or bring in a new client to my business, and that’s perfectly fine, because the strategy I use isn’t about chasing opportunities. How I go about those network events has consistently brought me valuable clients. Not overnight, but within time. It’s not about showing up everywhere and hoping something sticks. It’s about making thoughtful choices about where you can really add value.
Many people I meet at events feel stuck. They’re working hard, attending events, putting in the hours — yet struggling to break through. They want to grow, but they don’t know how to take that next step. So they go to a networking event and tell their story, but it ends with the initial introduction. No follow-up, no real connection.
Really frustrating. It doesn’t need to be that way for you. With patience — and a clear strategy — it will translate into real growth.
As a woman in business, I approach things a little differently. I see my ability to connect — heart to heart — as a gift. That’s where I often see the spark — the moment in someone's eyes when they’re ready, but just don’t know how. That’s the moment I can help.
My conversations are authentic. I’m truly grateful to meet such inspiring people. As we met this morning with the intention to share ideas and grow our businesses, I was well aware of my own business strategy. Ensuring that my introduction reflects my message and aligns with my values, focusing on connecting with those women whose missions I truly resonate with, and whom I can genuinely help.
